VMAC: a little context to understand
“This story smells like a flat tire”, to paraphrase Jonathan Cohen in Family Business. To understand what we're talking about, we have to go back to the summer of 2023 and its lot of bans that hit the world of legal cannabis in France, but also elsewhere in Europe.
On June 13, 2023, the ban on HHC and two of its derivatives, HHCO and HHCP, came into force on the national territory following the decision of the National Agency for the Safety of Medicines and Health Products (ANSM). “HHC presents a risk of abuse and dependence equivalent to that of cannabis”, we could read in a press release from the Agency. It was anything but a surprise, because as explained in our article “HHC: the controversial cannabinoid now banned", HHC is full of THC, like recreational cannabis. Obviously, the same chemical compositions induce the same effects.
You should know that a few weeks before its ban, HHC and its derivatives had aroused unprecedented enthusiasm among some consumers, pushing certain suppliers, notably online stores, to to load their stocks to ride the wave. This is not the case for us at 321CBD, as we do not offer any new, questionable, untraceable or undocumented cannabinoids.
The ban on HHC and its derivatives has therefore generated deadweight losses and a latent shortfall for these traders. And it is in this context that we saw the arrival of the VMAC.
VMAC, a potpourri of cannabinoids
As its name suggests, Various Mix Active Cannabinoids, or VMAC , designates the formula of a mixture of cannabinoids developed by White Rabbit, a Marseille brand specializing in legal cannabis products.
VMAC is not a new molecule like HHC, THCV or THCP. It is therefore a mixof several active cannabinoids from the hemp plant, of the Cannabis L. Sativa and Cannabis Indica variety. According to its manufacturer, we find “mainly” CBD, CBN, CBG and CBC. Of course, we remain with an almost zero level of THC, less than 0.3%, as required by law in France.
As the exact components and their dosage remain unknown, VMAC retains a dark side. We must therefore trust the words of its manufacturer , which explains that its product is “the legal replacement for HHC”.
According to Highbuy, the company that owns the White Rabbit brand, VMAC provides the same effects as HHC. The mix would be designed for “having a good time with friends, finding new creatives or relaxing after a long and hectic day”. Oddly, Highbuy indulges in an astonishing claim: VMAC will “give you a feeling of euphoria”… just that!
