Ingredients for the CBD king cake (8 people)

This intermediate pastry recipe will take you about an hour and a half, including preparation and cooking. We stick with a rather economical dish which will delight 8 people. Here are the ingredients you will need:

  • 2 ready-to-use puff pastry rolls;
  • 100 g ground almonds;
  • 100 g caster sugar;
  • 100 g of soft butter;
  • 2 whole eggs + 1 yolk for gilding;
  • 30 ml of CBD oil premium quality;
  • 1 bean (traditionally hidden in the pancake);
  • 1 tablespoon of rum (optional);
  • 1 pinch of salt.

Galette des rois with CBD: we move on to the preparation

Preheat your oven to 200° C. Spread one of the puff pastry cases on a baking tray covered with parchment paper, leaving enough edge to close the pancake afterwards.

In a salad bowl, mix the almond powder, sugar and soft butter to form a homogeneous cream. Incorporate the two whole eggs, then add the CBD oil and mix well for smooth and uniform integration. You can also add a tablespoon of rum to flavor the frangipane.

Spread this preparation on the puff pastry, leaving free space at the edges. Insert the bean into the frangipane. Cover with the second roll of puff pastry and seal the edges by pressing them firmly.

Brush the top of the pancake with egg yolk to give it a nice golden color when cooked. Draw patterns on the top with the tip of a knife to decorate. Bake the pancake in the oven for 30 to 40 minutes or until golden brown and puffy.

The chef's secret

Mix the CBD oil with the soft butter before incorporating it with the other ingredients of the frangipane so that it can harmonize with the flavors of the cake.

After cooking, remove the pancake from the oven and let it cool on a rack to preserve its crispiness. Once warm, you can transfer it to a serving dish.

For a neat presentation, lightly sprinkle the surface of the cake with icing sugar, or trace fine patterns with a little melted sugar for a shiny and refined effect.
