Acupuncture, a medical specialty in its own right in France
Practiced for thousands of years, acupuncture is based on the idea that our body has energy flows, called “Qi”, which circulate through channels, called “Qi”. meridians”. According to this theory, illnesses or pains occur when this “Qi” is blocked or unbalanced.
To restore the correct circulation of "Qi" and improve the patient's health, the acupuncturist inserts fine metal needles into the skin at specific points on the body, or points acupuncture. The latter are chosen according to the symptoms presented by the patient as well as the practitioner's analysis concerning the "energy imbalance" to be treated.
Inserting the needles is generally not painful. The needles can be manipulated manually or by electrical stimulation to increase the therapeutic effect. A typical session lasts between 20 and 30 minutes during which the needles remain in place. The patient usually feels deep relaxation or a feeling of revitalization.
Practitioners and many patients (78% in France) report that acupuncture is particularly effective in treating several illnesses, disorders or symptoms, including chronic pain, migraines, persistent stress and digestive disorders.
Even if the effectiveness and exact mechanisms of acupuncture continue to be debated in the West, it has established itself as a medical specialty in its own right in the majority of countries in Europe (including France), in South America North and, of course, Asia.
CBD and acupuncture: what’s the point?
The interest of CBD and acupuncture, used jointly (during the session) or separately, is obvious, insofar as the substance extracted from the hemp plant and Chinese medical practice relieves same symptoms without resorting to conventional medicationswhich can have significant side effects.
Of course, neither acupuncture nor CBD can replace medical treatment prescribed by your doctor. We are talking here about everyday ailments which do not necessarily require medication, or cases where the attending physician first wishes to try natural remedies before prescribing medication.
Incorporating CBD into an acupuncture routine has three major benefits:
- Better pain relief. CBD is an excellent anti-inflammatory and a good painkiller. It can relieve acute or chronic pain of mild to moderate intensity. Acupuncture, for its part, modulates the perception of pain in the central nervous system. Together, they provide you with more intense and longer-lasting pain relief by acting on two different biological mechanisms.
- Better relief from stress and anxiety. CBD modulates the receptors of the endocannabinoid system to relax you, while acupuncture acts on neurotransmitters and reduces the activity of the sympathetic nervous system for this purpose.
- Acupuncture finally potentiates the effects of CBD by improving blood circulation, which promotes better distribution of CBD in the body.
