Why is your cat aggressive?
Aggression in cats is often a reflection of underlying discomfort or a feeling of insecurity. This behavior generally finds its origin in:
- Trauma and abuse, but you are probably not in this situation;
- Stressful experiences such as moving, traveling or a turbulent and noisy environment can lead to aggression. The cat is a routine animal that does not like change;
- Health problems, for example dental pain, nervous system disorders, arthritis or hyperthyroidism;
- Neglect : lack of attention and care can cause aggressive reactions in your feline;
- A certain intolerance to contact: some cats have a defensive reaction to caresses. They perceive them as a threat, which can trigger sudden fear and aggressive behavior. This behavior is sometimes observed temporarily in kittens who have not been weaned correctly.
How can CBD soothe your cat?
Like other felines and mammals, cats have an endocannabinoid system (ECS), a complex system that regulates many physiological functions such as appetite, metabolism, sleep cycle, mood, immunity , the feeling of pain, etc. To play its part, the ECS can count on two types of receptors: CB1, disseminated in the brain and the central nervous system, and CB2, mainly present in the immune system and peripheral organs.
Like all cannabinoids found naturally in the hemp plant, particularly of the Cannabis Indica strain, CBD will interact with the receptors of the endocannabinoid system and exert:
- A soothing and relaxing action;
- Analgesic properties to calm pain of mild to moderate intensity, both acute and chronic;
- Anti-inflammatory properties, particularly on muscles and joints, to improve the mobility of your four-legged companion.
To know
Certain breeds of cats are known for their strong character. They are more likely to be aggressive. We are talking in particular about the Siamese, Cymric, Sphynx, Bombay, Bengal and Manx.
How to give CBD to your cat?
Administering CBD to a cat can be an obstacle course. The idea is obviously to give him full spectrum CBD oil for cats dropper, ideally under the tongue, twice a day. But it’s mission impossible for recalcitrant cats.
You will probably have to be a little more clever, for example byapplying drops of CBD oils in your cat's favorite treat. For dosing, start with a low dose of 0, 25 mg of CBD per kilogram of body weight per day. If necessary, and depending on the effects observed, the dose can be increased to 0.5 mg of CBD per kilogram per day.
If your cat shows occasional and regular signs of aggression, administer CBD oil about 30 minutes before the triggers, as a preventative measure.
