What is 10 OH HHC?
10-hydroxy-hexahydrocannabinol is a HHC derivative, a molecule extracted from the hemp plant, created during the oxidation of HHC by liver enzymes. It was discovered in the 1980s, but was only isolated in 2015, thanks to the extraction and then oxidation of hexahydrocannabinol.
The first hopes for this derivative were to have greater bioavailability (i.e. better assimilation by the body) and greater therapeutic potential.
This is a molecule whose effects are still controversial. A priori, this cannabinoid would particularly interact with the CB1 and CB2 receptors of the endocannabinoid system of the human body, but would have actions similar to THC.
The information we have on 10 OH HHC is based on what we believe is an insufficient amount of research, as well as assumptions and consumer experiences. Remember that HHC, from which it is extracted, has been banned for sale in France since 2023.
Controversy surrounding 10 OH HHC
According to the ANSM, studies have shown that the chemical structure of HHC is close to that of delta 9 THC, classified as a narcotic. As 10 OH HHC is a derivative of HHC, the question of the legality of this molecule arises.
As a reminder, products marketed in France must have a THC level of less than 0.3% to be legal. IF the effects of 10 OH HHC are similar, logically its marketing should soon be banned.
Differences between 10 OH HHC and other cannabinoid molecules
The cannabinoid molecules extracted from the hemp plant often have similarities, however their difference in chemical structure gives them differences.
10 OH HHC and CBD are two molecules with anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects, but the first has psychoactive effects which can alter the perception of reality, unlike CBD.
If we now compare this molecule to THC, the psychoactive effects are similar but reduced by certain side effects such as paranoia or anxiety. The experience with the consumption of 10 OH HHC is therefore lighter.
What are the benefits of 10 OH HHC?
10 OH HHC would have many benefits similar to other cannabinoid molecules from the hemp plant. However, at 321CBD, we believe that these studies are not sufficient and we give you these effects for information only.
First of all, 10-hydroxy-hexahydrocannabinol would offer analgesic properties, thus making it possible to reduce chronic or occasional pain. These effects are interesting for headaches, migraines, digestion problems, as well as suffering linked to osteoarthritis or arthritis.
Strong anti-inflammatory properties are also associated with this molecule, which can help the body reduce inflammation, whether acute or chronic.
Another interesting property of 10 OH HHC is its antiemetic action, that is to say against vomiting or nausea. It is also given anxiolytic properties, which act against stress and anxiety and contribute to a feeling of overall well-being.
Finally, the neuroprotective properties of 10 OH HHC could help fight neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's or Alzheimer's.
The opinion of the first consumers of 10 OH HHC
Some retailers offer 10 OH HHC. Thus, there is initial feedback from consumers.
Mostly purchased to reduce pain, reviews also mention a feeling of well-being and improved stress management. Of course, let's remember that these are opinions based on sensations and not on factual or scientific observations.
Why doesn't 321CBD sell 10 OH HHC?
On 321CBD, we have chosen to only offer safe and healthy substances, carefully controlled and validated by the scientific community.
Our ethics consist of making no compromise on quality and traceability. As compliance with legal standards for 10 OH HHC is still uncertain, we have decided not to market products containing this molecule . Indeed, it is the absence of specific regulations on this compound and the vagueness around its recent status which allows it to be sold.
For our team, this vagueness is not a sufficient reason to offer the 10 OH HHC for sale.
If you wish, you can find all of our commitments here .
